300 Hour Teacher Training
Devoted yoga teachers and practitioners are invited to deepen and refine your practice through a holistic approach that interweaves clear alignment, a rich philosophical lens, and actualizes the power of the Heart. Get ready to deepen your awareness and reside in a space of calm knowing.
By delving more deeply into the many facets of the yoga practice – skillful breathing, rich philosophical perspective, and elegant alignment within and through the body – students will develop a profound appreciation for life’s rich offerings, no matter how diverse these offerings are.
This program will encourage students to delve deeply into the alignment-based practice of Satta Vinyasa Yoga and include Advaita Vedanta (non-dualist philosophy), postures and adjustments from general Hatha Yoga practices, as well as Primary Series and some of Second Series in Ashtanga Yoga, and intelligent sequencing. Trainees will have the opportunity to deepen their authentic voice as a teacher and learn to share yoga as seva (selfless service). The entire training is based on ahimsa (non-violence). We will learn beyond the general principles of anatomy and move into physical and energetic subtleties as they relate to health, injury, and applying them to our practice and teaching. We will cover the benefits and contraindications of yogic practices as it pertains to asana, pranayama, bandhas, and their modifications to suit different groups of students (pregnant women, those recovering from injury, etc.). Included in this intensive is an in-depth, chapter by chapter, line by line reading, discourse, Q&A, and understanding of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Bhagavad Gita, and Advaita Vedanta. We will compare and contrast different translations to understand Truth.
Satta Vinyasa Yoga is a Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance. The core program consists of 6 required modules, which meet Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon, once every month. In between each module will be two required four-hour meet ups with Emily (Thursdays 5-9pm; first and third Thursdays of each month January- May). This will give each student 270 of the required 270 contact hours.
